  • Ibiza's governing body has agreed on new, island-wide club closing times, to be implemented by summer 2016. As reported in local newspaper El Diario De Ibiza, the president of the Island Council, Vicent Torres, and Ibiza's five mayors met yesterday morning (Wednesday, October 21st) to discuss the new closing hours. They settled on 6:30 AM for all nightclubs, which will affect the likes of Pacha, DC-10, Sankeys, Amnesia and Space. The authorities also ruled that they will come down harder on anyone found breaking the new laws, "imposing sanctions that are commensurate with the offence committed." The news arrives after a spate of late closings were recorded across the 2015 season. Amnesia, for example, were found in breach of their license on 15 occasions. At the club's closing party on October 3rd, the doors shut at 1 PM, seven hours later than permitted. The new laws will also affect smaller music bars, known locally as "cafés conciertos," and beach clubs. The cafés will now close at 5 AM, a decision that will impact strongly on Ibiza Town, where licenses previously extended to 6:30 AM. Beach clubs will shut at midnight.
