- The Irish duo have moved to Sunday Best for their next record.
Solar Bears will release a new album, Advancement, in March.
John Kowalski and Rian Trench first appeared on Planet Mu around the turn of the decade, releasing two LPs on Planet Mu that outlined a sound influenced by library music, krautrock, '60s psychedelia and film soundtracks. Their latest effort has them moving over to Rob Da Bank's Sunday Best Recordings and working with filmmaker Michael Robinson on a series of videos from the album.
Advancement took a year to make, with the duo recording in various places, emphasising the sonic quality of different spaces, plus incorporating and manipulating indigenous instruments to "[mirror] the widespread decay of the natural world," according to the label. They also sample nature sounds and volcanoes.
