NON released Mhysa's Hivemind EP today.
NON defines itself as "a collective of African artists, and of the diaspora, using sound as their primary media." Founded last year, the intercontinental group includes New York producer Chino Amobi—who debuted on UNO NYC a couple months ago—as well as Cape Town producer and performance artist Angel-Ho. The last release from their label was the five-track San Benito EP from Argentinian producer MORO, which sought to "go back to the African part of tango, to reclaim the rhythm and to make it important and visible again," according to the artist.
Mhysa is the solo project of E. Jane from the Philly experimental duo SCRAAATCH. Hivemind is Jane's second appearance on NON following the track "Power Cuts," which landed on the label's first compilation and later received a remix from Tri Angle producer Rabit. The six-tracker features production from another Philly producer, DJ Haram.
