Floorplan, NAAFI and the Dekmantel crew are all involved with events over the April and May program.
RBMA Festival will return to New York for a month of live performances, workshops, screenings and parties starting April 29th.
Highlights include the NYC premiere of the Sundance success KIKI, a film about the lives of young people involved in New York's ballroom scene, as well as a gig with UK grime champ Dizzee Rascal, who will perform his debut album, Boy In Da Corner on May 6th. Brooklyn's heavyweight techno promoter, The Bunker will join up with Dutch festival and record label Dekmantel the following night for a party at Good Room with Juju & Jordash, Joey Anderson, Palms Trax, Antenes and residents.
Mark Pritchard will bring his forthcoming album, Under The Sun, alive as an audiovisual installation at the Red Bull studios mid-month with the help of artist Jonathan Zawada. Next up is Technopolis, a late-night warehouse party which is meant to showcase Brooklyn's off-beat, hardware-centric house and techno scene; Galcher Lustwerk, Anthony Naples, DUST, Aurora Halal, Ital, Via App, Umfang, Max McFerren and Bookworms are booked.
NON Records—who released an EP from founder Angel-Ho yesterday—will take over New Museum on the 20th with Chino Amobi, Nkisi and Angel-Ho himself. On the same date they'll face off with the Mexican club music collective NAAFI, who have booked in Elysia Crampton, Rabit, Gaika and Scraaatch. The last date of the festival is all about uplifting, Afro-centric strains of house music, with sets from Floorplan, DJ Pierre, Terrence Parker and Slow To Speak, plus a number of vocalists like Ann Nesby, lead singer of the Sounds of Blackness.
