  • Discwoman will present four West Coast gigs in the next three weeks—two in LA and two in the Bay Area. The Brooklyn-based collective formed in 2014 as a way to support female-identified artists in the male-dominated dance music world. It now operates as a booking agency and has presented events in Montreal, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Mexico City and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Discwoman was recently the subject of a 12-minute documentary that you can watch below. The crew will head off on their first West Coast tour this month. First up is LA for a party presented by Fine Time and headlined by Umfang, one of the crew's co-founders, as well as Volvox, one of its star artists. They'll be joined by Dahlia and Cherushii, who will play live. Discwoman will then host an afternoon affair at the Standard Hotel rooftop in Downtown LA the following Sunday, with soulful house head Kim Anh spinning alongside Suga Shay, Bathhouse and a secret guest TBA. The next weekend has two back-to-back gigs in the Bay Area: one in San Francisco with Volvox and Umfang alongside Jaqi Sparro and Dhra, and another in Oakland with more of an emphasis on global club sounds. Bearcat, 8ulentina and Namaste Shawty are among the artists billed for that event, which goes down at a TBA location. Check out the Discwoman documentary below.
