  • Africans with Mainframes will release K.M.T. via London's Soul Jazz Records on May 6th. Moss (AKA Hieroglyphic Being) and Noleian Reusse have been collaborating since 2001, when they launched Moss's Mathematics Recordings with an EP presented by Steve Poindexter. Since then, they've released nine 12-inches. Moss, a prolific producer, runs Mathematics while Reusse looks after the Black Tekno imprint. The latter also released a 12-inch on Kassem Mosse's Ominara last year. Soul Jazz references two musical movements as primary influences on Africans with Mainframes; Chicago acid house and the afrofuturist legacy of the Sun Ra Arkestra, whose saxophonist Marshall Allen contributed to a collaborative full-length with Moss last year. The label goes on to call the record an "album of forward-thinking, experimental, boundary-pushing Afrofuturist electronic music that shows why Hieroglyphic Being is regarded as one of the most serious purveyors of experimental black music today." Moss returns to Soul Jazz after a Hieroglyphic Being LP called The Acid Documents, released last year. Watch RA's ORIGINS film on Jamal Moss below.
