  • The San Francisco Entertainment Commission awarded a full entertainment permit to the Armory in The Mission District last Tuesday. The 40,000-square-foot venue is the headquarters of pornography company Kink.com. The building's owners have already held four events this year, including Eric Prydz's EPIC 4.0 show in February. Three of those four events have been without proper permitting, Mission Local reports. Their request for an entertainment permit was granted last Tuesday after a 4-2 vote by the San Francisco Entertainment Commission, with the understanding that they would install sound abatement and assign security staff to control crowds outside. It limits hours until 11 PM from Sunday to Wednesday, midnight on Thursdays, and 2 AM for Friday and Saturday shows. There's been push-back from neighbors and local business owners who are unhappy with the loud noise and rowdy attendees, Mission Local says in the same article. Local politician Scott Wiener was initially behind the permit, though he withdrew his support last week after finding out about the venue's previous illegal events. Pete Acworth, head of the porn studio, plans to have all the necessary renovations done within three months.
