- Following the allegations made by Ronald Savage last month, a further three men have come forward accusing the "Planet Rock" producer of molestation.
Hip-hop and electro pioneer Afrika Bambaataa has been accused of sexual abuse by three more American men, The New York Daily News reports.
The claims, which were later picked up by FACT, come from Hassan Campbell and two other men, who wish to remain anonymous. They've come forward in response to an April 10th article in which former music industry executive Ronald Savage accused Bambaataa of five counts of sexual abuse in the 1980s. Like Savage, Campbell claims that Bambaataa abused him at his house in The Bronx, using his status to influence him as a young teenager. "He had the most fun house in the world," he says. "There were celebrities there, musicians, neighborhood heroes. It was the best place to be—and the worst place to be."
The two other men said similar things. "I know what Ronald Savage is saying is true because he did it to me," claimed one, now aged 50. "I've been dealing with this for years. It's a shame this didn't come out earlier," said the other, a 51-year-old from North Carolina.
Universal Zulu Nation, the hip-hop organisation founded by Bambaataa, last month threatened to file a lawsuit against Savage's initial claims. They also called Campbell "a liar and a government paid police informant." Meanwhile, influential radio personality Star has come out in support of the allegations. "People are taking this very seriously," said the former Hot 97 DJ. "Zulu Nation needs to demand that Afrika Bambaataa step down. If you believe black lives really matter, you have to stand up to this."
