  • Chicago's Metro and smartbar will throw their next all-building event over Independence Day weekend, on Sunday, July 3rd. Upstairs at Metro, the night will feature the legendary Detroit techno collective Underground Resistance, who last month were recognized with an award from Detroit's city council. UR live band Timeline—comprising Mike Banks, Jon Dixon, Mark Flash and De'Sean Jones—will headline, with DJ sets coming from Flash along with two more UR members, John Collins and Waajeed. (The latter is also known for founding the well-regarded hip-hop label Bling47, among many other projects.) Meanwhile, smartbar will be the scene for Queen!, the club's popular Sunday night queer party, with residents Derrick Carter, Michael Serafini and Garrett David set to hit the decks. A new Timeline EP on a new label called 4EVR 4WRD is in the works, according to Facebook post from a few months ago. For now, check out the video for the group's 2014 cut "Light My Fire."
Tickets to the Metro and smartbar's joint soirée are available on RA.
