Two new record stores open in Sydney

- Network Connection and OTIS will both open for business this Saturday with respective launch events.
- Two record stores will open for business in Sydney this Saturday, June 21st. The first, Network Connection Records, will be launching on the floor above popular Newtown cafe Brewtown. According to owner Josh Leenaars, the store will specialise in new and used house and techno, but will also stock a broad range of other genres and accessories. More than a dozen local DJs and collectors will be coming down for the store's inaugural record fair day, including Dreems, Ben Fester, Kato, D&D and Anno from Lovebombs. Network Connection will be open from 11 AM to 5 PM every Thursday to Sunday. OTIS Records is the other store opening its doors this weekend. After a six-month stint in a compact Chippendale location, followed by a three month hiatus, storeowner Hubert Clarke Jr will be relocating the operation to nearby party bar Freda's on "semi-regular Saturdays." The pop-up will be stocked with records obtained from Japan digging trips, fresh shipments of new release wax and music left over from the store's previous tenancy. OTIS will trade between 2 PM and 7 PM, after which time the nighttime launch event, Sweet Echoes, commences. The free party will feature Adi Toohey and Magda Bytnerowicz going back-to-back, plus sets from Nite Fleit, Jon Watts and Clarke Jr himself playing at Freda's until midnight.
