  • Seoul Community Radio is the newest player in the burgeoning online radio community. The new outlet will be on-air 24 hours a day with plans for daily video streaming of live performances. It's the first station of its kind in Korea and will be heavy on Seoul artists as well as touring guests landing in South Korea. Locals Quandol, Dguru, Honey Badger Records boss JNS and Red Bull Academy alumnus Akimbo are among those slotted in for regular shows, and the studio has already hosted appearances from Deadboy & Murlo, Elijah & Skilliam, DJ HAUS and Mumdance. The station, which looks to similar outfits like NTS and Berlin Community Radio for inspiration, will kick-off with a 15-hour day-into-night event this Saturday. That goes down at outdoor art space Platoon Seoul before heading indoors to the Pistil nightclub. It will also stream over on SCR's website. In a press release, SCR founder Richard Price describes the mission of the new station, saying "We've long been inspired by how radio has been a force to support creative communities worldwide. Our aim for SCR is to help Korean underground talent meet new global audiences and combine that with the best of what is happening internationally to support the fantastic growing scene here."
