  • The first names for this year's MUTEK.MX in Mexico City have been announced. As usual, live acts pushing leftfield sounds take up most of the bill. For the 2016 edition, which runs from October 19th through 23rd, there'll be slots for experimentalists such as Powell, Holly Herndon, Holly Herndon,Jan Jelinek & Masayoshi Fujita, along with house heavyweight Dixon and local export Murcof. Texas experimental club producer Rabit, The Field and Japan's Hiroaki Umeda are also confirmed. A special launch concert, NANO_MUTEK, has also been announced, going down at Foro Normandie, also in Mexico City, on July 22nd. The first edition of the new series will be headlined by Takami Nakamoto, who presents SOMBRA, a fresh collaboration with local outfit *Pac Interactive. More names will be added to MUTEK.MX bill in the coming weeks and months. In the meantime, read our review of last year's showing.
