- Air's self-titled 1971 effort is a favorite of DJs like Motor City Drum Ensemble and Jeremy Underground.
London-based reissue label Be With will revive a couple of rare titles this August.
Be With is likely best known to RA readers for its valuable represses of records by Balearic favorite Ned Doheny as well as the African singer Letta Mbulu's 1985 LP, Sweet Juju. They're back it again with a new vinyl version of the unclassifiable Long Island prog group Air's self-titled LP. The press release has Parisian head Jeremy Underground calling the 1971 long player his second favorite album of all time (after Marvin Gaye's What's Going On) and Motor City Drum Ensemble saying it's a "true desert island LP." As with other Be With releases, the reissue will be done in repro style, true to the original artwork.
August also sees the label putting out the sole 1975 full-length from Funk Factory, a group famously sampled by the Beastie Boys on the Paul's Boutique cut "Car Thief." The album features two staples of Polish progressive music, the multi-instrumentalist MIchael Urbaniak and acrobatic vocalist Urszula Dudziak. The label says Urbaniak is rumored to have made the record in order to refute claims that Eastern European musicians were not funky.
Listen to clips of both releases over on the Be With site.
