  • Luke Slater will release his next album as Planetary Assault Systems on September 30th. The release comes quickly after Ostgut Ton announced a compilation of Slater's material as The 7th Plain on their new A-Ton sublabel. Arc Angel is the third Planetary Assault Systems—an alias Slater has been using since the early '90s—album on the Berlin imprint following 2009's Temporary Suspension and 2011's The Messenger. (Slater also had an L.B. Dub Corp LP on Ostgut in 2013.) For Arc Angel, Slater reportedly focuses on the melodic side of techno. Ostgut says the record "is a postmodernist, non-comfortist techno album first and foremost, catering as much for club contexts as for accessibility in new melodic terms." Stylistically, it follows on from the recent run of Planetary Assault System EPs on Mote-Evolver, and uses a purposefully limited set of gear. The album comes in at 20 tracks and 96-minutes long, coming on digital format, triple LP, double CD and continuous mix format. Check out "The Last Scene."
