Athens Of The North has reissued "The Power Of Your Love" by Spirit Of Love.
The Edinburgh label has been feverishly pressing up 45s of rare and sought-after tunes since 2014, particularly on the disco and soul tip. Its next 7-inch release is a 1978 gospel tune. The reissue was inspired by the closing party at Plastic People in January of 2015 in London, where Sam Shepherd, AKA Floating Points, played "The Power Of Your Love" as the last song of the night.
Athens Of The North head Euan Fryer says he had "all but forgotten about the LP" when he heard Shepherd drop 'The Power Of Your Love.' He adds: "I jumped into action, hit up Calvin Bridges who wrote and recorded the LP (and is still recording gospel to this day) and he was happy to help out. So here we have it, a now historic track flipped with my preferred B-side and old secret weapon ['He's Alright.']" The record is available now on the label's Bandcamp page in both vinyl and digital formats.
