  • James Blake and Hudson Mohawke have been embroiled in controversy over claims of a supposed collaboration. Writing on Twitter, producer-vocalist Blake has denied a claim by Hudson Mohawke, real name Ross Birchard, that suggested that the pair had demoed "a few" tracks together. In the tweet, Blake stated that he was "respectfully baffled" by Birchard's suggestion, and that he'd "never worked" with him. In reply to Blake's denial, Birchard posted what appeared to be a screenshot of an email conversation with Blake from 2014, in which Blake tells Birchard that he'd "tried a few things with the beats you sent me but didn't get far." Birchard later tweeted that he'd like to see the said demos "see the light of day." Responding to the screenshot and Birchard's suggestion about leaking the supposed demoes, Blake shared a lengthy message to Birchard over Twitter, writing "thank goodness we've never worked together" and telling Birchard to "leak what you have." This morning over Twitter, Birchard seemed to put the disagreement to rest, explaining that he "had no issue" with Blake, and blamed "clickbait headlines" for the misunderstanding.
