When Love Hurts will arrive on the Ninja Tune sub-label in late September.
When Love Hurts will be the first solo 12-inch release from Pional in nearly three years, as well as his first for Counter. The Spanish house and electronica producer, real name Miguel Barros, has otherwise seen the bulk of his work issued through Hivern Discs (where he recently connected with label boss John Talabot for an EP as Lost Scripts), Permanent Vacation and Young Turks. Counter says the EP is inspired by "love and loss." Barros puts his own voice to use on three of the four productions, while the last one features vocals from NYC-based artist Empress Of.
Counter's output over the past 18 months has included records from Tiga, Howling (that album was put out jointly with Monkeytown), David August and ODESZA.
