  • Jasper James's Saturday night residency at Phonox in South London will come to an end on October 1st. James has played at the Brixton club nearly every Saturday since it opened in September of 2015. (In that year he ranked at number 81 on RA's top DJ list.) His slot has been taken over by Jon Rust for August, and next month will see James will play his final six residency slots. "I've learnt so much from my Phonox residency, playing six hours week-in, week-out in the capital means I've been able to hone my craft," says James. "We always said we'd see where we were at a year in and it feels like the right time for me to move on to the next stage in my career. I want to thank the club for which I have the upmost respect and anyone who came to dance with me over the last year. It's been incredible." Details of the new Phonox resident will be revealed in September. According to Phonox, James' successor "has very little profile." The club adds: "They are someone we've enlisted purely for her talent and passion as a DJ."
