There's a new product on the way from Roland and Serato.
It's the first-ever collaboration between the Japanese hardware giant and the New Zealand software manufacturer. There's scant information available about the product, apart from the teaser website that went up today with a brief video.
The two companies began talking about a partnership in 2013, right before Roland rolled out its AIRA synthesizers and drum machines. "At that time we were focused on the AIRA products but we always had the feeling that we needed to introduce ourselves to the DJ world in the future," Roland manager Shinsuke Takami says. It marks a step into the DJ market for Roland, who have traditionally focused on production, pro audio and live performance gear.
There's a countdown on Serato's website leading up to the full announcement. They'll unveil it on September 9th along with a whole line of new products as part of Roland's live-streamed "909 celebration."
