  • Andy McKay, CEO of Ibiza Rocks Group, has made a statement about Ibiza Rocks' current temporary license suspension. The original story, published last week in Diario De Ibiza, said that local authorities issued the San Antonio venue with the suspension after it failed to comply with noise and vibration regulations. McKay, who started Ibiza Rocks in 2005, has refuted those claims, stating that "the current situation is not about noise, it's about paperwork." Read McKay's statement in full.
"The current situation is not about noise, it's about paperwork. We have been operating within the legal limits set by the national and European regulations all summer and will continue to do so next summer with our continued weekly event programme. Ibiza Rocks Group took over the full lease and management of the hotel on May 31st, 2016, and only then became aware that the previous administration had not updated paperwork following the move of the main stage in 2013, and had not updated the acoustic study to comply with new 2013 acoustic regulations. We have been working collaboratively with the authorities to remedy any issues as we only wish to operate activities that comply with all local and national laws. We have now presented the updated paperwork to the town hall and as soon as they rubber-stamp it, music will will back in the hotel as normal. The town hall and Ibiza Rocks share a mutual duty of care to the guests currently staying in the hotel so we are hopeful the town hall will process the paperwork as quickly as possible, so our guests can continue their enjoyment of their San Antonio holiday. Our 2017 event programme will not be affected."
Only two events have been affected by the ban, including the W.A.R. closing party featuring David Rodigan, Lethal Bizzle and Lady Leshurr. With the season drawing to a close, Ibiza Rocks has no more events currently scheduled.
