  • Surgeon and Gnod's collaborative release, Behind The Lids, is available now via Tesla Tapes. Techno producer Anthony Child has collaborated with Salford band Gnod on a two-track, 40-minute CD of drone and ambient sounds. "I read about them in The Wire magazine," Child told The Quietus, "and it mentioned that Gnod was 'krautrock' influenced. I'm usually quite underwhelmed by current bands who are said to be krautrock influenced, but I could hear real honesty in their music." They worked on the project remotely, with Surgeon adding some extra layers of synth using his Buchla Music Easel and a Buchla 200e synthesizer. "I decided to just lightly 'tickle' the piece, so as not to overwhelm what was already there," he explains. All proceeds from the release will go to repairing the roof at Islington Mill, the music and art venue where members of Gnod also live. Listen to both tracks.
