  • Bruce Forest will DJ at Analog BKNY next Saturday, as part of a tribute to the Manhattan nightclub Better Days. The Midtown discotheque was open from 1972 to 1990, around the same time as iconic dance spots like The Paradise Garage and David Mancuso's Loft. It figures heavily into Life And Death On The New York Dance Floor, 1980-83, the new book by Tim Lawrence, author of the seminal disco history Love Saves The Day. (RA ran an excerpt of Life And Death earlier this week.) Forest was one of its longtime resident DJs, as well as an in-demand producer who remixed the likes of Giorgio Moroder, Madonna and Whitney Houston. He was also a major inspiration to '90s house heroes like David Morales, Danny Tenaglia and Louie Vega. To celebrate the release of Tim Lawrence's new book, Analog BKNY will host Forest for a headlining set next weekend. He'll be joined by the Occupy The Disco crew as well as his daughter Bliss Forest. Lawrence will be in the building signing copies of his book. Tickets for this event are available here on RA.
