  • Roger Linn has released a new version of the LinnStrument. The original LinnStrument can be described as an expressive MIDI controller, as it responds to a range of gestural controls not possible on standard MIDI keyboards and controllers—namely strike velocity, pressure, left-to-right and front-to-back motion and release velocity. While the original model was 570 mm wide, the new model, called the LinnStrument 128, is shorter, reaching 399 mm. It also features 128 pads rather than 200 and retails for $999, where the original costs $1499. Linn is one of the most influential designers in electronic instrument history, having created or contributed to the LM-1, LinnDrum, MPC series and Tempest instruments over the last four decades. The LinnStrument is a contemporary of other expressive MIDI devices, such as ROLI's Seaboard Rise Watch an introduction to the LinnStrument.
