- It's the experimental producer's first ambient record.
Further Records will put out an LP from HOLOVR on December 2nd.
Anterior Space is the Seattle label's final release of the year, following records from Jonathan Fitoussi, Monadh, Nuel, Strategy and others. It's the first time that HOLOVR, real name Jimmy Billingham, has appeared on Further. Previously, he's put out music on Opal Tapes and Indole Records. This one is his first record without beats, comprising four lengthy tracks that the label compares to "the gilded age of 'armchair techno' exemplified by Warp Records' Artificial Intelligence compilations."
"Dropping drums gave me a bit more freedom in terms of tempo and rhythm, and it was actually really liberating," Billingham says. "I'd know a track was ready if I could sit there and listen to it looping round for long periods of time and really get lost in it, and then I'd try and capture a nice section of that in the space of 10 minutes or whatever."
Listen to the entire LP.
