  • Polydor is packaging up 13 classic Vangelis albums in a box set called Delectus. Greek artist Vangelis, real name Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou, is a pioneer of synth music known for his prolific output in the '70s and '80s. He also produced many acclaimed film soundtracks, including the score for 1982's Blade Runner. Delectus gathers up 13 of his albums released on the Polydor and Vertigo labels, including Earth, China, See You Later and his 1973 album L'Apocalypse Des Animaux, which was one of his earliest releases. Three of the records Papathanassiou made with Yes vocalist Jon Anderson, as Jon & Vangelis, are also featured, including the influential new age LP The Friends Of Mr. Cairo. Remastering of the collection was overseen by Vangelis himself, and it's the first such reissue project done with his cooperation. It'll come with a "substantial" booklet, and will also feature rare B-sides and unreleased tunes. For a full list of the albums (along with tracklists), check out the uDiscover Music store. Listen to Jon & Vangelis' "The Friends Of Mr. Cairo."
Polydor will release Delectus on February 3rd, 2017.
