The Italian techno DJ will play two gigs in Brooklyn (including a rare live ambient set) and one in Detroit next month.
Giorgio Gigli will cross the pond in December for his first-ever gigs in the US.
Gigli is one of the Italian underground scene's key purveyors of deep, moody techno, as heard on releases for labels like Prologue, Zooloft (the now-defunct imprint he helped operate alongside Francesco Baudazzi, AKA Obtane) and more recently Semantica, Planet Rhythm and Electric Deluxe, the latter being home to his 2015 debut album The Right Place Where Not To Be. He's booked for three gigs on this trip—two in Brooklyn, then one in Detroit.
First up in Brooklyn, on Saturday the 3rd, is a night at The Gateway hosted by Metamorph. Gigli will play an extended set, and he's joined on the lineup by locals Shawn O'Sullivan (playing live) and Rose E. Kross. (Together those two are known for their Further Reductions project.) A couple days later, Metamorph will present a Monday-night experimental event at Bossa Nova Civic Club, where Gigli will play a rare live ambient set.
Gigli will then head to Detroit on Saturday the 10th to DJ at Blank Code's next Scene party at The Works. UVB, the French artist and Mord affiliate who launched his own label, Body Theory, earlier this year, will play this one as well, as part of his own debut run of US dates.
Listen to "The Blue Sky Warnings," Gigli's recent contribution to the Semantica ten-year anniversary EP series.
Tickets to the Brooklyn show at The Gateway and to Scene 45 in Detroit are available on RA.
