  • Philip Anschutz, the owner of AEG, the company that runs US music festival Coachella, has supported anti-LGBTQ groups and climate change-denying organisations, reports say. Anschutz's deep right-wing links were reported by The Washington Post back in July of 2016. On January 4th, Uproxx published a piece about his connections to Alliance Defending Freedom, National Christian Foundation and Family Research Council, three groups that Uproxx say "seek to push back against gains made by LGBT people using lawsuits and lobbying." Anschutz is also a "financier of climate science denial groups," according to a 2013 post by Greenpeace. In addition to Coachella, AEG's portfolio also includes Staples Center in Los Angeles and New York City-based promoter Bowery Presents. It's the second-biggest corporate concert promoter in the US, behind Live Nation. The lineup for this year's Coachella festival was announced this week, with a large contingent of electronic acts that includes Dixon, The Belleville Three, Ben UFO, Floating Points, Nicolas Jaar and Sasha.
