  • Chicago house favorite Derrick Carter is about to put out a new single called Squaredancing. While Carter occasionally does remixing and guest vocalist work—and maintains a busy schedule of DJ gigs—he hasn't released an original production in years. According to Mixmag, Squaredancing will come through Press Pot Recordings, a label owned by Chicago's Dark Matter Coffee. (Carter collaborated with the coffeemaker a few years ago to put out a mixtape and his own coffee blend.) "Squaredancing" is apparently a different take on "Squaredancing In A Roundhouse," the title track for Carter's debut album, issued on Classic in 2002 (and issued as a single a year later). Fellow Windy City locals Stacy Kidd and Scrubfish have contributed remixes for this release, as has Carter himself. It'll come as a limited edition, double 7-inch package. After recently posting a short video of a test-pressing for the Scrubfish remix, Carter added a couple comments: "no digital" and "vinyl only." A release date is still TBA. Tracklist A Squaredancing B Squaredancing (Stacy Kidd Remix) C Squaredancing (DC Nu-Vox Dub) D Squaredancing (Scrubfish No Gills Rub) Press Pot Recordings will release Squaredancing soon.
