The legendary German percussionist was instrumental to the Krautrock sound.
Liebezeit, born in Dresden in 1938, is best known for his work with Can, the pioneering Krautrock band of which he was a founding member. Alongside Damo Suzuki, Holger Czukay and Michael Karoli (and others), Liebezeit helped develop the group's distinctive rhythmic psychedelia. He was an avid collaborator up until his death, working with the likes of David Sylvian, Brian Eno, Depeche Mode, Burnt Friedman and Schiller.
Liebezeit's friend Raji Susimé posted news of his passing on Facebook.
