  • Future Sound Of London are working with Digitana Electronics to develop a standalone version of the EMS Synthi Expander. Synthtopia reports that the company, which builds custom modules for coveted EMS synths like the VCS3 and Synthi A, has previewed forthcoming products made in collaboration with the English duo. The SX-1 Stand Alone Expander is based on the Synthi AKS KS Expander but doesn't require a Synthi proper to use it. It is set to feature two analogue VCOs that are capable of wavefolding, two voltage controlled 24 db/octave filters and a range of modulation options, such as dual envelopes, a slew limiter, LFO, slope generator and more besides. An analogue bucket brigade delay is also on-board with voltage controllable feedback as well as a distortion section. Another collaborative synth, the compact, digital Halia is in development but further details are currently scarce. There is also no information regarding price or availability at this time.
