- Inspiration for the book comes from Jaar's recent online radio project.
Nicolas Jaar has put together a book called Network, which is being co-published by Printed Matter and Jaar's label, Other People.
The 336-page book, designed by Jena Myung and Maziyar Pahlevan, is "the culmination of a multi-phase project from Jaar which takes the form of an online, semi-fictitious network of interlocking radio stations built around chance operations," according to Printed Matter.
Network contains essays from Jaar as well as Lydia Lunch and Linda van Deursen. We can expect "poster artwork advertising 111 radio shows (across 333 stations) created by Pahlevan, Myung and Jaar," plus "loose transcriptions of each radio program, comprised of sprawling text culminating in a full-color section of manipulated images."
The stations Jaar created for his radio network aired 20 hours' worth of his own mixes, his recent Sirens album, as well as "conceptual audio works created with the help of voice actors."
"The contributed texts and transcribed radio-chatter that filter through the book offer ways of resistance against entrenched power-structures (of political systems, of the mega-wealthy)," says Printed Matter. Network is available to pre-order from the Printed Matter website.
