  • Finnish experimental artist and Pan Sonic member Ilpo Väisänen has a new I-LP-O In Dub album, Capital Dub Chapter 1, coming up on Editions Mego. It'll be the second full-length Väisänen has put out through Editions Mego using his I-LP-O In Dub moniker, after 2015's Communist Dub. (He also put out an album under his own name, Asuma, through the label's predecessor Mego back in 2001.) Due out in May, it was influenced by the first part of Karl Marx's text Capital, and unsurprisingly for an artist with a penchant for abstract and often abrasive sound design, it's described in generally ominous terms: "Ferocious textural feedback as music for stock exchange crashes. The soundtrack to heaps of money hoarded by the hidden class... After the collapse, picturesque ruins... What next?" Capital Dub Chapter 1 follows last year's release of Väisänen's Syntetisaattori Musiikkia Kuopiosta LP through Kvitnu, and the Atomin Paluu soundtrack album, which was the final record from Pan Sonic, his longtime collaboration with Mika Vainio. Väisänen also appears on a newly-released recording, Live At Marie-Antoinette, as part of legendary Can singer Damo Suzuki's Sound Carriers project. Listen to Capital Dub Chapter 1 cut "Invisible Hand."
