  • Delia Gonzalez will release her second LP with DFA, Horse Follows Darkness, in May. The multidisciplinary musician and visual artist released her first album in 2015, which was a full piano score for a 30-minute ballet piece. Her follow-up, which was recorded with Abe Seiferth in New York City, is "essentially a modern electronic soundtrack for the revisionist American western," the label says. Musically, it's inspired by the compositions of Erik Satie and the solo piano work of Su Tissue (from the Los Angeles punk band Suburban Lawns) as well as krautrock bands like Neu! and Cluster. The title is taken from a werewolf film that her eight year-old son Wolfgang created, and the cover is inspired by one of the best-known films of the western genre, Robert Altman's McCabe & Mrs. Miller. "The album is based on our personal experience of moving back to America (from Berlin) and the journey that followed," she says. "Coming back to America, I felt like a foreigner and NYC / America felt like the Wild West." Listen to the title track.
