  • Birmingham venue The Rainbow Pub will close at the end of the month. The 200-capacity venue, which also houses two smaller spaces, Courtyard and Cellar, was the first to open within the now-sprawling Rainbow Venues complex in 2004. 13 years later, Rainbow Venues founder Lee McDonald has decided to sell it on, with the closing scheduled for the last weekend in May. Three party brands strongly affiliated with the venue—Face, Home and Below—will host successive finales across the 27th, 28th and 29th. The lineups are still TBA. "The Rainbow Pub, Courtyard and Cellar were my university, my course, my education. It became a way of life that I lived, breathed and worshiped every inch of, " says McDonald. "It's time to give somebody else the opportunity that I was given 13 years ago from Joe Ward and Fuzz Townsend. I want somebody to take on the building and give it a new identity, a new lease of life, a new beginning." Tickets to the closing parties are available here on RA.
