Pessimist will release his debut self-titled album via Blackest Ever Black next month.
The Bristol artist has been releasing stripped-back drum & bass for the better part of a decade with labels like Samurai and UVB-76. He linked up with Blackest Ever Black last year for a 12-inch called Balaklava, and then followed it up with an EP for Osiris Music that leaned further towards techno. Now he's shared news of an album, which the label calls a "noir, smoked-out dubscape" full of "jungle tear-outs," "acidic rave," "downtempo breakbeat" and "bombed-out industrial ambience."
"At times it feels like the missing link between British Murder Boys and Source Direct," they explain, "or what might have happened if late '90s UK junglists had listened more closely to Chain Reaction."
Pessimist will be playing the Blackest Ever Black club night at OHM in Berlin this Friday.
