  • Melodies International will release its next two records in late July. The label run by Floating Points, DJ Love On The Run, Mafalda and Javybz is focused on reissuing rare disco and soul records, capturing the spirit of Floating Points' You're A Melody night, originally held at the now-shuttered Plastic People. The next two Melodies releases were originally dug up by Floating Points and Red Greg. The veteran DJs made their own edits and pressed five copies of each record, which will now see wider, fully-licensed and remastered releases "due to popular demand." The first is Y. Gershovsky's 1979 library record "Disco Baby." That one will come on 7-inch with a Red Greg and Floating Points edit on the B-side. July also sees the label issue a 12-inch from Chicago artist Maurice Moore, Everything That Shines Ain't Gold. That one puts both tracks from the original 1977 7-inch onto the A-side, with a Floating Points edit on the flip. In addition, the Moore vinyl will come bundled with a 16-page zine. Listen to clips of the Y. Gershovsky and Maurice Moore reissues over at the Melodies website. Check out a teaser video for the two releases.
