  • A deal struck between the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA), insurance specialists NDML and legal protection specialists Rradar will provide UK venues with support when tackling issues with local authorities. The aim of the partnership, according to the NTIA, is to provide venues with "cover for everyday legal disputes." Night-time businesses, which need to be signed up to the NTIA to qualify, will receive up to £500,000 "on matters such as licensing issues, tax investigations [and] planning disputes from neighbouring developments." One of the key figures in the deal is Philip Kolvin QC, who represented fabric in the London club's successful battle to reopen. "Night-time venues face more risks that most businesses, including action by regulatory authorities or neighbours which can be damaging or even fatal, including to the best-run businesses," says Kolvin. Alan Miller of the NTIA says the deal "means everyone that is an NTIA member can have the same representation fabric got, without having to crowdfund." He adds: "This is a game-changer for everyone in our industry. We will continue to champion collaboration and partnership with all stakeholders. But make no mistake, we are serious about fair treatment for our enormously loved clubs, bars, festivals, restaurants and all licensed activities." Miller says the deal will give venues access to expert advice and training on licensing and planning. Its span also includes other issues relating to employees, environmental regulations, fraud and health and safety. For more information on NDML, head to their website. Photo credit: Luca Crescenzi
