  • Sydney's Electronic Music Conference (EMC) will return for its sixth edition on November 29th and 30th. This year's EMC will see the two-day programme of talks, panels and workshops split between three venues in Redfern: Giant Drawf, Cake Wines Cellar Door and The Work-Shop. Artists like Andrew Weatherall and Eglo's Alexander Nut will join a vast array of industry figures from record labels, radio stations, agencies, media outlets and more to cover an equally broad range of topics. While Weatherall will engage in a conversation about his career and the music industry as a whole, other participants will touch on issues like activism, mental health, cultural appropriation, the future of radio, gender bias and safe spaces as they pertain to the electronic music community. Local speakers include Picnic's Kali, Anna Burns from Future Classic, Keep Sydney Open spokesperson Tyson Koh and Hardware Corp's Richie McNeill. Preceding the conference, on November 28th, will be a private discussion forum titled Global Cities After Dark, with past keynote speaker and Amsterdam Night Mayor Mirik Milan leading a day intended for city planners, local and state government, artistic and cultural organisations in Sydney.
