  • New York label Palto Flats is launching a new record series this month called PFF. PFF aims to be a home for "contemporary electronic/experimental/dance releases in limited format," as Palto Flats puts it. Its first move is the Secada Mondatta 12-inch from Conga Square, an ad hoc group made up of Jimy Seitang, Andrew Felix, Ross Menuez and Brian Close—the latter artist collaborates with Justin Tripp as Georgia, and the duo put out an album on Palto Flats last year. (They also teamed up with RVNG Intl.'s Matt Werth on an LP due out later this month.) In introducing Secada Mondatta, Palto Flats mentions Tolouse Low Trax, Burnt Friedman and Holger Czukay as points of reference. The three-track release, featuring artwork and design by Close, is scheduled to land on the 24th, the same day Palto Flats and WRWTFWW Records put out a reissue of Mariah band leader Yasuaki Shimizu's 1982 album Kakashi. Watch a video for "Raiders," directed by Close.
