Incidental Music will launch with a reissue of Chernicoff's valuable 1983 LP, along with an album from Italian duo Ambienti Coassiali.
Incidental Music, a new label out of Portland, Oregon, has announced its first two releases.
This summer, they'll present a new version of Larry Chernicoff's Gallery Of Air in partnership with the artist's own Windy Planet Music. Many of RA's readers first became acquainted with the 1983 LP when its opening track, "Woodstock, New York," appeared on last year's Optimo Music-released Miracle Steps compilation, which traced Jon Hassell's Fourth World theory from 1983 to the present. The remastered version of Gallery Of Air, an album influenced by "Don Cherry, classical Indian Alap, Indonesian gamelan and [Chernicoff's] time spent in Germany playing free jazz," according to label's notes, is out in June.
Prior to that, Incidental Music will release the debut cassette from Ambienti Coassiali, Vol. 1 - Room 1-6. A side project of the Milanese duo Capricorni Pneumatici, Vol. 1 - Room 1-6 comprises "minimalist ethereal FM synthesis compositions" meant to embed itself in the consciousness of the casual listener, according to the label notes. Ambienti Coassiali was developed in concert with a video project called Empty Heads, which made accompanying "'video wallpaper'... generated with analog electronic television equipment." Incidental Music has taken the audio from the original micro-release, as well as the corresponding Empty Heads visuals, and will release them as a remastered DVD package for the first time.
