Dark Entries is releasing four new records.
First up is another reissue from Lena Platonos, a Greek electronic music pioneer who started making music in the '80s. Lepidoptera, originally released in 1986, is the third in her trilogy of classic solo albums, and it follows previous reissues of the other two, including remix packages, from Dark Entries. This LP was reportedly inspired by a book about butterflies that Platonos found in the trash, and it "touches on themes of metamorphosis, rebirth, love, and alienation," according to the label.
The next album is a collection of early recordings from the British label Outer Himmilayan (later spelled Outer Himalayan). It gathers the first few releases from groups Soft Drinks, The Magits and S-Haters—records that would go on to influence the UK's post-punk, synthwave and deathrock scenes.
Dark Entries also has two releases coming up sooner, on April 9th. They're reissuing the only full-length from German group Instant Music, from 1980. The trio made Neue Deutsche Welle-inspired music that the press release says fused "Dada, disco and Krautrock" using guitar, bass, keyboards and drum machines.
There's also an album of new material from Bay Area artists Aria Rostami and Daniel Blomquist (though Rostami now lives in New York) called Distant Companion. It's inspired by the multiple star system Polaris—which guided the American slaves to freedom—and focuses on themes of civil rights, recorded partially at a protest performance.
