He's putting more than 100 pieces of studio and touring equipment on sale through Reverb.
The star musician has set up a shop at Reverb.com to sell more than 100 pieces of synths, keyboards, guitars and other items used throughout his career, both in the studio and on tour. Included among the offerings is a Roland Jupiter-6 synth, which Moby considers the "crown jewel" of his synth collection and was previously owned by Joey Beltram. Also available are a Roland Juno-106 synth, a Yamaha SY22 Vector synth, a custom Serge modular synth, a Technics SL-1200MK2 turntable with a rare Moby slipmat, a Casio CZ-1000 keyboard (one of his first-ever keyboards), a Roland Space Echo and a number of guitars, such as the '80s Ibanez that for years was Moby's primary live guitar. The shop will launch this Thursday; for now you can preview it here.
"This is the equipment I've used to make all my records," Moby says. "I have so much equipment and almost all of it has profound sentimental value to me, including synthesizers I started using in the '80s. But rather than keep it all in storage, I want to sell it for a good cause."
All proceeds from the shop will be donated to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), which promotes plant-based diets and advocates for alternatives to the use of animals in medical research and education.
