- Three men were taken to hospital following an incident on Sunday morning.
East London LGBTQ venue Dalston Superstore has denied reports that an alleged acid attack on Sunday morning was related to the club.
Around 5:20 AM on May 6th, three men, ages 17, 22 and 27, were attacked by another group of men with a "noxious substance" on Shacklewell Lane, according to the police report. Metropolitan Police said "their injuries are not life threatening. However, at this early stage it is still to be determined whether the injuries will be life-changing."
The London Evening Standard initially reported that the three men were leaving Dalston Superstore on Kingsland High Street when they were attacked. Representatives of the venue posted this morning on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to dispute these claims: "The press has reported this as happening to customers outside Dalston Superstore, this is not accurate. The three men had not visited our venue, and the attack happened long after we had closed. There is no indication that this senseless and brutal attack was motivated by homophobia." The club's official closing time on Sundays is listed as 2:30 AM.
The London Evening Standard article has since been amended to reference the venue's statement. That said, other news sites are still citing their report and leading with the Dalston Superstore connection, including The Sun and Daily Mail.
