Chicago footwork innovator RP Boo has a new album called I'll Tell You What! on the way via Planet Mu.
I'll Tell You What! will be Boo's first full-length with contemporary music, as his two other LPs for Planet Mu (2013's Legacy and 2015's Fingers, Bank Pads & Shoe Prints) featured archival material. While featuring his trademark battle-ready blend of unpredictable rhythms and layered, cut-up vocals, the album sees Boo sharing "new stories about preaching his gospel outside of Chicago" and draws from his time spent around the globe on tour in recent years.
"The richest place in the world is the cemetery. And it's not because of the jewellery that people might have on," RP Boo says. "It's because of what they had in their mind that they wanted to give, but didn't have anyone to give it to. That's how I learned that it's not about me, it's about the listeners. It's about giving back. I wanna die empty."
