The Brooklyn trio's fourth album will come out this July.
The album sees Forma, composed of Mark Dwinell, George Bennett and John Also Bennett, further refining their wide-ranging mix of acoustic and electronic instrumentation across seven tracks. We're told the group was inspired by "polyrhythmic composition, the human voice and conceptual improvisation strategies," while George and John Also Bennett also drew on a recent stint in Jon Gibson's ensemble, performing the longtime minimalist composer's 1973 work Visitations.
Due out in July, it'll be Forma's fourth full-length record overall, and second for Kranky, after 2016's Physicalist. The group put out a pair of albums on Spectrum Spools back in 2011 and 2012.
Kranky's release schedule this year has included new albums from RA podcast mixer Grouper, Dedekind Cut and Christina Vantzou. (Separately, John Also Bennett and Vantzou collaborated on an album for Shelter Press a few months back.) Kranky will also reissue Tim Hecker's first two LPs in July.
