- Ab Initio follows Echiverri's appearance on The Bunker's 15th anniversary compilation earlier this year.
The Bunker New York's next record is an EP from Abby Echiverri titled Ab Initio.
Made up of four hardware-based tracks, Ab Initio will be the New York-based Echiverri's first full release, and it sees her back on The Bunker following a contribution to the label's RA-recommended 15th anniversary compilation, out in February. The EP lands in a couple weeks on vinyl and digital formats.
Echiverri has an extensive musical background: classically trained in violin, flute, piano and vocals as a child, she'd go on to study music engineering at university and perform in the post-punk band Dream Affair, and The Bunker says she became a regular at their parties "at a very young age." Nowadays, she seems to wear many hats, as a live act, DJ, VJ, engineer and gear technician. The past couple years have seen her doing tech work with LCD Soundsystem and Soulwax, and she used to be production manager at Brooklyn club Output.
