  • Modeselektor have revealed plans for the relaunch of Seilscheibenpfeiler Schallplatten Berlin, a label that the group's Sebastian Szary started in 1994, and which has been dormant ever since. Szary and his Modeselektor partner, Gernot Bronsert, will use Seilscheibenpfeiler to highlight a mix of both established artists and lesser-known talent. Its first move is a re-release of its sole record from 1994: a rare untitled 12-inch with tracks credited to Fundamental Knowledge (at the time a Szary alias) and a friend of his who went by Dr. Rhythm. 50 copies of the four-track EP, found in a box in Szary's basement, are available now, alongside a fresh digital version. (There won't be a vinyl repress.) From there the label will focus on new music, which will come on vinyl editions limited to 300 copies and on digital formats. Its first proper release, due out next Friday, is Italian techno legend Lory D's Jam With Deaf Cats EP, featuring an edit by Marcel Dettmann. Lory D appeared on Modeselektor's recent Modeselektion Vol. 04 compilation. Seilscheibenpfeiler gets its name from a structure at a disused limestone mining facility (now a museum and park complex) in Rüdersdorf, a small town east of Berlin. Listen to one of those Dr. Rhythm cuts.
