- Bestival, Jazzfest Berlin and Rifflandia are among the latest to agree to the PRS Foundation initiative.
More than 100 music festivals have joined a pledge to diversify their lineups by 2022.
The Keychange campaign was first announced in February, when 45 festivals—including MUTEK, Worldwide Festival, Iceland Airwaves and Pop-Kultur—signed up. The pledge, organized by the UK nonprofit PRS Foundation, requires festivals to achieve and maintain a 50/50 gender balance within the next five years. Among the new additions are England's Bestival, Jazzfest Berlin and Rifflandia in Canada. For the full list, go here.
PRS Foundation CEO Vanessa Read spoke about an increasing focus on US and Canadian festivals in the campaign: "It's also important that this initiative is now being debated in the US where A2IM Indie Music Week hosted a Keychange discussion involving our partners from Canada and Reeperbahn Festival," she said. "I hope this milestone will encourage others to join in with this positive and increasingly popular movement for change."
