  • Uber has won an appeal to operate in London for at least another 15 months. A judge at Westminster Magistrates' Court granted Uber a probationary license earlier on Tuesday, June 26th, following Transport For London's decision against renewing the ridesharing company's license last year. Uber appealed, while also taking steps to improve its working practices, which included limiting how long drivers can work for each day, and developing a better system reporting incidents to police. These concessions, overseen by Uber's CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, mark a departure from ex-CEO Travis Kalanick's aggressive and unyielding approach, which often saw the company directly flouting laws and regulations to pressure governments to give into its demands. The new license will last for 15 months, as opposed to the usual taxi operator license which is valid for five years. Since arriving in London, Uber has become a popular service for clubbers in the city.
