  • London venue Red Gallery is closing at the end of the month after eight years. In a statement posted to Facebook, the Shoreditch arts and events space's team says, "From the day we entered the building we knew that this day would eventually come. Eight years later that day has finally arrived, and we sadly but proudly say #goodbyeShoreditch as our amazing project closes its doors for good." The venue first opened its doors in 2010 as a pop-up gallery and events space, and the team intended to only keep it open for three months. Over the eight years, Red Gallery promoted local artists not only by booking them, but also by giving them free studio space. Red Gallery will officially close on July 31st, with a "one last dance" happening on July 21st. UK DJs Zaki and Toni C will play with two "very special" guests that are TBA. Another Shoreditch musical space, Strongroom, is also in danger of closing. Leon Vynehall shared the petition to keep save the studios from being forced to close should an office black construction plan get approved. Read the full statement on Facebook.
